Through qualitative content analysis of the top 20 Malay-language digital channels (2024–2026) and semi-structured interviews with content creators, this paper argues that Video Melayu Baru functions as a double-edged sword: it democratizes representation for young Malays but simultaneously reinforces neoliberal consumerism, urban-centric worldviews, and, in some cases, regressive gender norms.
