Can we survive

We're in the Jaws of Extinction

Moscow, Berlin, Singapore, Washington DC, London. The radio’s are still working, but there is no one left to use them. The only confirmed safe haven is Eden-Nadir, an island off the coast of the United States of America and headquarters to Thanatos Pharmaceuticals.

Thanatos pioneered a miracle treatment, designed to be a universal cure for deadly diseases such as AIDS, Cancer. However, the best of intentions became the worst of consequences when it was released that the cure had a devastating side effect. The fungi used in the engineered cure (Ophiocordyceps unilateralis) began uncontrollably spreading through the bodies of its hosts. Upon reaching the brain, it would feed and destroy the parts responsible for cognition. Only by keeping part of the host’s brain alive, the malignant fungal infection would control it’s host with the singular interest of proliferating its noxious spores.

Lumerical Fdtd Tutorial Pdf Direct

Set the simulation time, mesh refinement, and boundary conditions (e.g., Perfectly Matched Layers or PML to prevent reflections).

This comprehensive guide serves as your definitive tutorial. It covers everything from core concepts to setting up your first simulation project. 1. Understanding FDTD Simulation Basics

set("name", "waveguide"); – Modifies parameters of a selected object. run; – Executes the simulation.

Frequency-domain profile, index, or time-domain monitors. 3. Step-by-Step Simulation Workflow

Use Lumerical’s built-in report generator ( write command) to export images and data directly into a formatted PDF.

To save this guide as a local, offline , use your web browser's built-in print functionality: Press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac). Change your print destination target to Save as PDF .

A word of caution: Be wary of "free PDFs" on random file-sharing sites. Many are outdated (Lumerical v2.0 vs. current v3.0+) or contain malware. The safest approach is using official or university-distributed materials.

Set appropriate boundaries, such as PML (Perfectly Matched Layers) to absorb waves, or Periodic for periodic structures. Phase 2: Sources and Monitors

import sys # Append the Lumerical API path (adjust based on OS and version) sys.path.append("C:\\Program Files\\Ansys Inc\\v261\\v261\\api\\python\\") import lumapi # Launch FDTD with lumapi.FDTD() as fdtd: fdtd.eval("newproject;") fdtd.addrectangle(name="nano_disk", r=0.2e-6, z_span=0.1e-6) fdtd.set("material", "TiO2 - Siefke") fdtd.save("python_autosave.fsp") Use code with caution. 5. Practical Design Examples Metasurface Unit Cell Deflection

Comprehensive Tutorial for Ansys Lumerical FDTD Ansys Lumerical FDTD is the industry-standard software for simulating photonic components

Launching Lumerical FDTD opens the main Graphical User Interface (GUI). Navigating this workspace efficiently accelerates your design workflow.

Used for repeating structures like photonic crystals or metasurfaces illuminated at normal incidence.
